  • MY JR PASS use of personal information that you may submit to MY JR PASS through this Web site is governed by the MY JR PASS Privacy Policy.

    We have established our company credo of helping to create impressive and satisfying travel experiences by maximizing the value of each travel experience and creating opportunities in which people can meet other people and enjoy both nature and culture through their travels.

    We recognize that the protection of personal information of our customers and all who are concerned with our company is our social responsibility. We are committed to carrying out the following policies in the protection of personal information.

    1. We assign personnel to manage personal information (“Personal Information Protection Manager”) at each branch and stipulate the personal information protection measures to be taken (“Management System”) and appropriately manage them.

    2. In the case of requesting personal information, we will identify the purpose of use thereof and obtain such information only to the extent necessary for conducting business and through a lawful and reasonable manner and will use and/or provide such information only within the limits of the stated purposes.

    3. We will implement safety rules to manage risks concerning all the personal information handled in our company, such as being accessed in an unauthorized manner, being leaked, lost, or maliciously damaged or destroyed, and will take organizational, personnel, physical and technological measures to prevent risks and corrective measures if a problem occurs.

    4. In the case of outsourcing some of our operations to other companies handling personal information, we will request and supervise such contractors to handle the relevant personal information in the same proper manner as handled in our company.

    5. We will observe laws and ordinances on protection of personal information, governmental guidelines and other social norms, and will endeavor to continually improve the Management System through regular review.

    6. In the case where any customer requests our company to disclose and/or correct personal information that has been kept by our company and which belongs to such customer, we will respond appropriately in accordance with laws and ordinances on protection of personal information, and other social norms. We will respond in good faith to any and all complaints or consultation requests regarding personal information that has been kept by our company.

  • Terms and Conditions related to the use and purchase of the Japan Rail Pass

    VALID AREA Valid for the railways, buses, and ferry boats shown below:

    RAILWAYS:
    All Railways of the JR Group, Shinkansen super express train (except "NOZOMI"), limited express trains, express trains, and rapid or local trains. (not usable on some trains)

    BUSES:
    JR Bus Companies-- Local lines of all JR Bus in Tohoku, Kanto, Tokai, West Japan, and Chugoku. JR Bus Division--Local lines of JR Hokkaido, Shikoku, and Kyushu. JR HIghway Bus Lines--Tomei Highway Bus, Meishin Highway Bus, Chugoku Highway.

    JR Ferry:
    Miyajima/Miyajimaguchi (not usable on Beetle II Hakata/Pusan)

    Remarks:
    The JAPAN RAIL PASS is not valid on the "NOZOMI" Shinkansen trains. If you wish to use a "NOZOMI" train, you must pay the ordinary fare and the limited express charge, and if is in a Green car, then the additional Green car surcharge. Additional charge is required for a private compartment and a sleeping car.
    PURCHASE AN EXCHANGE ORDER The JAPAN RAIL PASS is sold only outside Japan. It is not available in Japan. Purchase an Exchange Order before leaving for Japan and exchange it to an actual PASS after arrival in Japan.
    OBTAINING THE PASS The Exchange Order can be converted to a PASS at JAPAN RAIL PASS exchange offices of the following stations:

    Kushiro, Obihiro, Asahikawa, Sapporo, Hakodate, Shin Chitose Airport, Misawa, Sendai, Yamagata, Fukushima, Niigata, Kanazawa, Tsukuba, Tokyo, Narita Airport (Terminal 1 and 2), Ueno, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ikebukuro Yokohama, Shin-Yokohama, Odawara, Mishima, Shizuoka, Hamamatsu, Nagoya, Kyoto, Shin-Osaka, Osaka, Kansai Airport, San-no-miya, Okayama, Hiroshima, Shimonoseki, Takamatsu, Matsuyama, Kokura, Hakata, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki, Nishi-kagoshima

    The Exchange Order is valid for 3 months starting from the date of issuance, and it can be exchanged at anytime within the 3 months period. The starting date of the PASS can be any day within one month from the date the PASS is issued. Once the PASS has a starting date written on it, the date cannot be changed.
    ELIGIBILITY The JAPAN RAIL PASS is a special ticket that is available only to travelers visiting Japan from foreign countries for sight-seeing. To be eligible to purchase a JAPAN RAIL PASS you must meet one of the following two conditions.

    1. You are a foreign tourist visiting Japan from abroad for sightseeing, under the entry status of "temporary visitor".
    * Only persons who have a passport bearing this "temporary visitor" stamp can use a JAPAN RAIL PASS.
    2. You are a Japanese national living in a foreign country,
    a. who is qualified to live permanently in that country, or
    b. who is married to a non-Japanese residing in a country other than Japan.
    * Note: Person meeting the above conditions is required to show the proof of eligibility at both the time of purchase of an Exchange Order and also when exchanging it to a JAPAN RAIL PASS.
    SEAT RESERVATION Seat reservations can be made without additional payment. To make a reservation, apply at any Travel Service Center or a Reservation Office (midori-no-madoguchi) at a JR station. There, show your PASS, and obtain your reserved-seat ticket before boarding. A non-reserved seat can be used simply by showing your JAPAN RAIL PASS. Seat reservations cannot be made before you receive the PASS in Japan.

    The periods when seat reservations are particularly difficult to secure are as follow:
    December 29 to January 5 (New Year holidays)
    April 29 to May 5 (the Golden Week annual holidays)
    August 13 to 15 (Obon, traditional homecoming holidays)

    * Child is from age 6 to and including 11.
    The age is based on the day when an Exchange Order is issued.
    EXTRA CHARGE: Additional charges are required if you are boarding a private compartment or sleeping berth. The PASS is not valid for "NOZOMI" Shinkansen train, and a separate full fare ticket must be purchased.
    REFUND [Exchange Order]
    An Exchange Order that has not been turned in for a PASS can be refunded only at the same office that issued the Exchange Order within one year after the date of issue.
    *A handling charge and a communication fee, set in the regulations of each issuing office, will be deducted of the rate of 10%.

    [JAPAN RAIL PASS]
    After the Exchange Order is exchanged for a JAPAN RAIL PASS and before the PASS is used, the PASS can be refunded at any JAPAN RAIL PASS exchange offices of the Japan Railways Groups.
    * 10% of the yen price of the PASS will be charged as a handling fee.
    * No refund can be made for any reason on or after the first day of use.
    * Neither refunds nor extensions of the validity period can be made on a PASS in the event of train's non-operation, delay, or the like.

    *The cost of shipping will not be refunded. In addition, shipping fee for any Exchange Orders required to be shipped back to NTA America will be the responsibility of the customer.
    LOST/STOLEN Neither an Exchange Order nor a PASS can be reissued if lost or stolen.
    OTHER USAGE CONDITIONS: 1. A JAPAN RAIL PASS is strictly limited to the assigned individuals; it is not transferable from one person to another.
    2. You should carry your passport during travel, and be prepared to show it upon request.
    3. These and other usage conditions follow the Japan Railways Group passenger transportation regulations and Japanese laws.


  • International
  • Customs and import duties may be applied to International orders when the shipment reaches its destination. Such charges are the responsibility of the recipient of your order and vary from country to country. Contact your local customs office for details.

    Shipping laws are different in each country. It is your responsibility to check with your Customs office to verify whether the country to which you are shipping permits the shipment of your products. MY JR PASS is not responsible for any direct, indirect, punitive, or consequential damages that arise from improper international shipping practices.
